Analysis of the Vietnamese Imported Car Market: Vietnam has a total population of 99.5 million, with a highly youthful demographic. Its economy is developing rapidly, maintaining a long-term growth rate of 6% to 7% in recent years. The total import and export volume of Vietnamese goods has reached $732.5 billion, with a total GDP of $409 billion. China remains Vietnam's import market, with the total import and export trade volume between China and Vietnam reaching approximately $225 billion in 2022. Among this, Vietnam imports about $142 billion from China, making China the primary source of Vietnam's imports. Currently, about 80% of Vietnam's automotive, motorcycle, and electric vehicle supporting parts and supplies rely on imports, with 60% imported from China. Vietnam has over 5 million registered cars in circulation, and it is expected that during the period from 2030 to 2035, Vietnam will enter a period of motorization and modern transportation infrastructure construction, with car ownership increasing by approximately 3 to 5 times. The motorcycle ownership stands at nearly 70 million units, most of which are foreign brands, but most motorcycle parts are imported from mainland China. There are over 3 million two- and four-wheeled electric vehicles in circulation, with locally assembled brands selling well. The call for banning motorcycles in major cities in Vietnam has been longstanding, and various preferential policies have been introduced to promote the "oil-to-electric" transition for two-wheeled vehicles. It is expected that the share of motorcycles converted from oil to electricity will increase by 20% by 2025. Although the market for electric two-wheeled vehicles (known as "electric motorcycles" in Vietnam) has entered a saturation period, the total demand is still expected to exceed 2.7 million units per year during the period from 2023 to 2030. As Southeast Asian countries relax entry restrictions and consumer expectations improve, the economic upturn is driving consumption growth in the automotive, motorcycle, and electric vehicle industries.
